“An artwork cannot be identical to a mere physical object, but is constituted by interpretations, which transfigure objects into works of art.” – Philosopher, Arthur Danto

Welcome to our ‘Art’ Bob’s Gallery Blog!  Please browse, muse and comment as you wish.  If you’re an artist, please consider submitting your artworks for posting and review by contemporaries and amateurs.  Artists may submit their art websites at my SEO friendly art site found on my FREE ARTIST WEBSITE LISTING PAGE.

Art Gallery or Art Museum

According to Wikipedia, An art gallery or art museum is a space for the exhibition of art, usually visual art. Paintings are the most commonly displayed medium; however, sculpture, photographs, illustrations, installation art and objects from the applied arts may also be shown. Although primarily concerned with providing a space to show works of visual art, art galleries are sometimes used to host other artistic activities, such as music concerts or poetry readings. In our case, exhibitions will be limited to the world with medium of the internet.

Here at ‘Art’ Bob’s, we’re an online Gallery, virtual Museum, and Blog for Classical and Contemporary Art and Artists.

Fine Art

Fine Art can take on the form of several genre; Abstract Art, Classical Art, Contemporary Art, Figurative, Representational, Symbolism, Impressionism, Art Deco, Romanticism, Realism, Expressionism, Minimalism, Surrealism, and more.

Our gallery will endeavor to explore many artistic venues, artists and art eras, primarily focusing on Classical, and some Contemporary Art, as well as offer some humble thoughts and critiques of the artworks and their creators.

If you’re an artist, we welcome new submitters, as long as their willing to take honest assessments, with ‘no holds bar’. The opinions expressed are solely those of the author and subscribers of this blog, and should not be misconstrued as anything authoritative or binding on the parties involved. In other words, ‘If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.’

Artists

I love the masters; Albani, Allston, Bassano, Bierstadt, Botticelli, Bouguereau, Canaletto, Cornelius, Da Vinci, Degas, Durand, e Moran, Friedrich, Goya, Greco, Inness, Land, Leighton, Lorrain, Michelangelo, Monet, Panini, Picasso, Raffael, Rembrandt, Reni, Renoir, Rockwell, Rodin, Rubens, Salvador, Sargent, Van Gogh, and Waterhouse to name several.

Consequently, there’ll be plenty of ‘Classical Art’ to launch from. We will, however, discuss many Contemporary Artists as well, including submitals we receive from aspiring Artists, or those looking for additional exposure & input.

Paintings

Out of thousands of great artworks, only a few are that are truly great. The greatest works are revered by the masses, as well as the critics. The Mona Lisa is an immortal artwork made by Leonardo da Vinci, who’s intrigued millions with her captivating smile. The Melting Watches of Salvador Dali is another example of a hugely famous artwork; the list is too long to elaborate here.

Regardless of style, media or time period, the most famous paintings are those that are the most striking to the viewer’s judgment are those which are the greatest of all. Here is a list, non-exclusive, what many consider to be some of the most famous paintings:

Annunciation (Botoccelli)
Dancing Studio (Degas)
The Parasol (Goya)
Ajanta Murals (Made by the painters under Vakataka Kings in India)
Flaming June (Leighton)
The Starry Night (Van Gogh)
The Last Supper, Monalisa (Leonardo da Vinci)
Madonna and Child, The Last Judgment (Michelangelo)
Impression, Sunrise (Monet)
The Old Guitarist (Picasso)
The Persistence of Memory (Dali)
Holy Family, St. Michael and the Dragon (Raphael)
Belshazzar’s Feast, The Mill (Rembrant)
